Skin care is more than skin deep. Whether it’s drinking more water or making time to move your body, a few simple lifestyle changes can work wonders for your skin.

Eat for great skin.

  • Omega-3 fatty acids promote good skin health — ground flaxseeds and certain fish are an excellent source.
  • Get your Vitamin A. Eat plenty of dark orange and dark green vegetables each day.
  • Snack on nuts such as hazelnuts or almonds to give your skin a boost of Vitamin E.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

  • Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water to cleanse your skin from the inside out.
  • Avoid alcohol – it dries out your skin, which could cause premature lines and wrinkles.
  • Stop smoking…this zaps the water from your skin, too – and creates fine lines around your mouth.

Head for the shade.

  • Avoid sun exposure during peak hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Don’t leave home without wearing sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher. Apply at least 20 minutes before heading outside.
  • Wear protective clothing, such as a wide-brimmed hat and long sleeves.

Move it or lose it.

  • Exercise is great for body, mind and soul…not to mention your skin.
